His work includes the ballad of steadfastness, “Rockin’ Years,” recorded by Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton in 1991. Parton and Shelton were nominated for Best Country Vocal Collaboration for their performance of the song at the 34th GRAMMY Awards.Living in Sevierville, Tenn., Floyd was known for his many talents. In addition to his songwriting he was an outdoorsman, nature lover and great cook. He is survived by his many siblings and their families. Billboard reports the family already held a private service in his memory. His cause of death has not been commented on. Floyd will also be remembered and be present in spirit on Feb. 8, 2019 when Dolly is honored by MusiCares at the Person Of The Year gala in Los Angeles, two nights before the 61st GRAMMY Awards.His passing was confirmed by an obituary at Atchley Funeral Home where condolences can be left online.
